The D&D Art Gallery Project – pt. 1

January 7th, 2012 | Posted by D&D Creations in Features

This post is a little bit different from the others; this time we are not showcasing a new product, but a new project we’ve recently completed. It started as curiosity, but ended as a useful study of some hidden features of Vue.

The building above was modeled entirely in Vue, and the lighting job was also done in Vue. NO other applications were involved! Although Vue is known as a landscape generator without the proper features of modelling, after the first successful results in this scene, it has become our goal to prove that modelling IS possible in Vue without using any other “modelling” application. It was a great challenge, but it was worth the time!

With lots of primitives, boolean functions, measurement and patience, even a complex building like our virtual D&D Gallery can be created in Vue.

In this interior scene, the lighting settings are also irregular, but we can tell, we used only one light – the Sunlight.

We’ve created a page for this project in our Galleries; for viewing the scene from 10 different camera angles, visit The D&D Art Gallery Project page.

In a few days we will reveal more information on modelling and lighting in this scene in Part 2, so stay tuned!
